J.D.K. did not manufacture dolls when he started his business in 1805. It was in 1820 that he started making wooden dolls with paper mache heads. The first porcelain dolls were produced in the late 1850s. Kestner was known for his high quality dolls.
Since 1997 Byron Molds have been manufactured in the Netherlands by the doll supply company Poppengilde. Byron molds continue to be of the highest quality and are created from the same plaster Byron has always used. All authentic Byron molds have the Byron logo cast into them, and are manufactured under the strictest of quality control measures.
